Description
A 27 year old Dalmore from the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, distilled in 1992, from cask 1748, bottled at 44.7%, one of 233 bottles. Dalmore is a rich, chocolate and orange Highland single malt, deeply marked by sherry wood. The distillery stands on the firth near Alness, in the Northern Highlands.
The spirit was distilled for the thick, full bodied spirit Dalmore is known for, to build a rich, sherry loving character. A bourbon barrel held it, vanilla and a marmalade citrus over the oily malt. Oxidative, evaporative ageing turns the malt deep and rich, ethereal esters and a faint sotolon (maple). Refill oak lets the full bodied Dalmore character lead, orange and dried fruit beneath. The Dalmore range climbs to some of the oldest and most expensive whiskies in the world. The Royal Stag style is built on rich spirit and deep sherry wood. The distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson on the Cromarty Firth at Alness.
At its natural 44.7% it is concentrated. Baked fruit, coffee and a dark sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A dried fruit and a chocolate depth give it weight. The finish is deep, sherried and dark. This is a rich, full bodied Highland single malt.
