The bottler Glenscoma bottled this Dalmore, a 20 year old, distilled in 1977, from cask 12147, bottled at 60.4%, one of 264 bottles. Dalmore is the Highland malt of the Royal Stag, rich with orange, chocolate and sherry. Water comes from the River Averon, drawn from Loch Morie in the hills above.

It was worked through flat topped and water jacketed stills for a rich, oily spirit, for a full, opulent Highland spirit. A bourbon barrel held it, vanilla and a marmalade citrus over the oily malt. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the sherry turning to marmalade, treacle and dark chocolate. An aged Oloroso cask suits the rich spirit, dried fruit and chocolate meeting the oily weight. Its long time master distiller Richard Paterson, known as The Nose, shaped the rich house style. The Dalmore range climbs to some of the oldest and most expensive whiskies in the world.

At its natural 60.4% it is concentrated. Marmalade, chocolate and a malty depth, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Marmalade, chocolate and dried fruit fill the middle. A long, opulent finish carries a chocolate orange depth. This is one of the Highlands' most opulent single malts.
