Description
A Dalmore of a 12 year old chosen by the London merchant Berry Bros and Rudd, distilled in 2012, from cask 3577, bottled at 55.8%, one of 304 bottles. Dalmore is a rich, marmalade and dark chocolate Highland single malt of real opulence. The rich, dried fruit style runs through the core range, from the twelve year old upward.
It was distilled for the thick, full bodied spirit Dalmore is known for, to build a rich, sherry loving character. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanilla and citrus beneath the rich malt. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the malt, the rich body fuller and darker. Refill oak lets the full bodied Dalmore character lead, orange and dried fruit beneath. The distillery stands on the firth near Alness, in the Northern Highlands. The distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson on the Cromarty Firth at Alness.
At 55.8%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Dried fruit, orange and a treacly malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked fruit and a warm spice lift it. A full, sherried finish ends on orange and dark chocolate. This is Dalmore, rich with orange and dark chocolate.
