This Dailuaine was bottled by the Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan, a 15 year old, at 55.4%. Dried fruit, malt and a rich, savoury depth run through it, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. A heavy, sherried Speyside malt of real depth. It once had its own railway siding and a little locomotive, the Puggy. This is Dailuaine’s heavy, meaty Speyside style.

The Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan bottled this Dailuaine, a 15 year old, distilled in 2007, from cask 308392, bottled at 55.4%. Dailuaine, founded in 1852, gave Scotch its first pagoda roofed kiln. A fire in 1917 destroyed the maltings, and the distillery was rebuilt soon after.

Made in large copper stills for a rich, robust make, for the rich, full bodied make Dailuaine is known for. Ex-Sherry wood added a deep dried fruit richness to the full bodied malt. In the oxidative middle years oxidation draws out a deeper dried fruit, vanillin and lactones fully expressed. Long ageing turns the fresh fruit towards dried fruit, fig, leather and a warm spice. Dailuaine's heavy, malty make is prized by blenders for the body it gives. Refill oak lets the robust Dailuaine character lead, malt and dried fruit beneath. Most of its make goes to blending, with a Flora and Fauna sixteen year old the regular single malt.

At its natural 55.4% it is concentrated. A robust, sherried maltiness, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. Soft orchard fruit and a rich malt sit behind the cask. The finish is deep, rich and savoury. This is a rich, dried fruit laden Speyside single malt.
