Dailuaine 14 Years Old TWCe (The Whisky Cellar)

This Dailuaine was bottled by the bottler The Whisky Cellar, a 14 year old, from cask 113, bottled at 54.2%, one of 81 bottles. Dailuaine is a full bodied Speyside malt of real depth, mostly bottled by independents. Single malt Dailuaine is rare as an official bottling, so most come from independents.

Worked through the big stills for a meaty, malty spirit, giving the heavy, meaty spirit at its heart. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the oak letting the heavy, malty character lead. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper orchard fruit over the meaty malt. Most Dailuaine goes quietly into blends, a robust filler kept in part as single malt. Its rich, robust malt has long been a backbone of the Johnnie Walker blends. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the rich, malty core over the years.

At its natural 54.2% it is concentrated. Dried fruit, malt and a rich, savoury depth, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is full and rich, the fruit lifted by a meaty malt. A full, malty finish ends on dried fruit and a warm spice. This is the robust, sherried malt of Carron.
