This Dailuaine was bottled by Pendulum Spirits, an 11 year old, at 60.3%. Apple, dried fruit and a meaty malt over a full body. The name is Gaelic for the green vale in which it sits. Dailuaine is a robust Speyside distillery at Carron, near Aberlour. Single malt Dailuaine is rare, so most come from independents. This is a full bodied Speyside malt of real depth.

Description
Pendulum Spirits bottled this Dailuaine, an 11 year old, distilled in 2010, from cask 308832, bottled at 60.3%, one of 287 bottles. Dailuaine is a robust Speyside distillery at Carron, making a full bodied malt mostly for blends. It had its own railway siding and a little locomotive, Dailuaine No.1, known as the Puggy.
Worked through the big stills for a meaty, malty spirit, building the heavy Dailuaine style. First fill bourbon gave a fuller vanilla over the robust spirit. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the malt, fruit deepening to dried fruit. The clean spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit over a rich malt. The rich, full bodied spirit takes cask flavour well, especially sherry wood. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation, the heavy malt deepening. It passed to DCL and Scottish Malt Distillers in the 1920s and was later modernised.
At 60.3%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Orchard fruit, malt and a warm spice, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run dried fruit, malt and a savoury edge. The close is long, fruit over a rich malt. This is the robust, sherried malt of Carron.
