Description
A 10 year old Dailuaine from the bottler Brave New Spirits, from cask Batch No. 2, bottled at 55%. Dailuaine is a Diageo Speyside distillery, its robust malt the backbone of many a blend. Water comes from the Bailliemullich Burn, the spirit drawn off three wash and three spirit stills.
The spirit was distilled in large conical necked stills on Bailliemullich Burn water, for the rich, full bodied make Dailuaine is known for. A bourbon barrel held it, vanilla and a soft spice over the malty spirit. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper orchard fruit over the meaty malt. Maturation in the cool north east keeps the rich spirit balanced over the years. It sits near Aberlour, in the heart of Speyside by the River Spey. Single malt Dailuaine is rare as an official bottling, so most come from independents.
Bottled at a cask strength 55%, it is rich. A heavy, malty fruitiness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is heavy, the fruit carried on a meaty, malty body. Dried fruit, malt and a savoury oak see out the finish. This is one of Speyside's heavier single malts.
