Description
Cune Rosado is made by CVNE, one of the historic houses of D.O.Ca. Rioja, from Tempranillo grown on the Cerecillo and Ascarza estates in Rioja Alta. The clay-loam soils there nurture old vineyards of more than twenty years, whose age gives lower yields and concentrated, even fruit. Rioja Alta's cooler, higher sites and continental climate, with warm days and cool nights, preserve the natural acidity that keeps the wine fresh. The harvest is carried out by hand to protect the fruit and the health of the vine. The grapes are pressed gently and fermented cool in stainless steel, a young unoaked approach that keeps the colour pale and protects the primary aromatics. The wine pours a pale pink. The nose is fresh and vibrant, with ripe strawberry and peach over a light floral note and a touch of cherry. The palate is dry and clean, the fruit framed by bright acidity through a citrus-edged finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
