CVNE has made Cune Crianza in Rioja Alta since 1879, a blend of Tempranillo, Mazuela and Garnacha. Twelve months in American oak give a classic Rioja of ripe red fruit, vanilla and gentle spice, and it remains one of the house’s best sellers.

Description
Cune Crianza is a benchmark Rioja from CVNE, made without interruption since the house was founded in 1879. The fruit comes from Rioja Alta, the cooler western reach of the region, with roughly half from the winery's own vineyards and the rest from local growers on long established plots. Rioja Alta lies at higher altitude with an Atlantic influence, which lengthens the growing season and keeps acidity fresh in the Tempranillo, supported here by Mazuela for colour and grip and Garnacha for roundness. The wine is a Crianza, aged twelve months in American oak barrels, a tradition that gives Rioja its hallmark coconut tinged vanilla, sweet spice and a soft, savoury complexity as the tannins settle through slow oxygen exchange in barrel. It is certified vegan. The colour is a bright cherry red. The nose offers ripe red fruits such as strawberry and cherry with vanilla, clove and a touch of leather, while the palate is balanced and approachable with red berry fruit and a smooth oak frame. The finish is gentle and savoury. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees. It is an easy partner for roast and grilled meats.
