Wemyss Malts, the family bottler known for evocative cask names, calls this Croftengea Trawlerman's Satchel. A heavily peated Loch Lomond malt, an 11 year old from 2006.
Eleven years in ex-Bourbon round the peat, the low-tannin oak giving vanilla below the reek.
At 46% it shows a kippery, medicinal smoke with citrus, a malty note and old wood, guaiacol and phenols carrying the maritime reek. A peated Croftengea.
