Description
Phil and Simon Thompson, the brothers behind the Dornoch distillery and their Thompson Bros bottlings, select this Croftengea, a heavily peated Loch Lomond malt, a 16 year old from 2006.
Sixteen years in ex-Bourbon soften the peat, the cask's vanilla softening the peat beneath.
At 50% it shows fresh fruit, a malty note, new wood, a nutty edge and hay over the wood smoke, the peat phenols carrying the smoke. A peated Croftengea.
