This Craigellachie was bottled by the bottler The Single Cask Ltd, a 10 year old, distilled in 2009, from cask 301035, bottled at 57.8%, one of 308 bottles. Craigellachie is a robust, oily Speyside single malt made on worm tub condensers. The distillery was founded in 1891 by a group led by Peter Mackie, the man behind the White Horse blend.

The spirit was worked through stills and worm tubs for a muscular, oily spirit, to build a robust, sulphurous, full bodied character. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the oak letting the oily, robust character lead. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the malt, the worm tub weight softening to tropical fruit. The oily spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and tropical fruit over a meaty malt. Years in oak round the spirit, the worm tub weight turning to pineapple and wax. Water comes from a local spring in the Blue Hill area above the village.

At a natural 57.8% it is full and honeyed. Meaty malt, tropical fruit and a waxy oil, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Pineapple, malt and a savoury wax fill the middle. A long, oily finish carries a tropical depth. This is a meaty, tropical Speyside single malt.
