This Craigellachie was bottled by the Glasgow bottler Douglas Laing, a 10 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask DL 12469, bottled at 46%, one of 941 bottles. Craigellachie is a robust, fruity Speyside single malt from the heart of the region. It was launched as a single malt brand in 2014, with a bare knuckle, old fashioned image.

It was distilled for the heavy, meaty spirit Craigellachie is known for, for the muscular, meaty make Craigellachie is known for. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanilla and pineapple beneath the muscular malt. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the malt, the worm tub weight softening to tropical fruit. A big sherry cask suits the muscular spirit, dried fruit meeting the meaty weight. The robust make rewards long ageing, the meatiness giving way to tropical fruit. With age the meaty young spirit turns to pineapple, mango and a waxy depth.

Reduced to 46%, it is mellow. A robust, oily fruitiness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A dried fruit and a savoury, oily depth give it weight. It finishes robust, waxy and warm. This is Craigellachie's robust, oily Speyside style.
