Description
This official Cragganmore, a 13 year old, from 1992, cask CggD-6557, at 40%. Cragganmore is a fragrant, complex Speyside single malt from Ballindalloch on the Spey. The distillery sits at Ballindalloch on the River Spey, in the heart of Speyside.
The spirit was distilled in flat topped stills with worm tub condensers on Craggan Burn water, for a full, complex Speyside spirit. A Port pipe laid red fruit and a chocolate note over the complex malt. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the complex, fragrant spirit growing rounder. The complex, fragrant spirit takes cask flavour well while keeping its meaty, malty core. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the meaty malt. Water comes from the Craggan Burn, off the slopes of Craggan More hill. The meaty, fragrant make rewards a long, patient maturation. Most Cragganmore goes quietly into blends like Old Parr, a little kept as single malt.
Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. Malt, dried fruit and a herbal spice, with plum, red berry and chocolate from the cask. A baked fruit and a warm spice lift it. The close is long, fruit over a complex malt. This is Cragganmore, the heart of Old Parr.
