Description
An official release of Cragganmore, a 12 year old, from 2009, cask CggD-6573, at 40%. Cragganmore is the complex, savoury Speyside malt of the Classic Malts range. Water comes from the Craggan Burn, off the slopes of Craggan More hill.
Worked through flat topped stills and worm tubs for a meaty, fragrant spirit, to build a complex, savoury, fragrant character. A wine cask finish layered red fruit over the fragrant, savoury malt. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper orchard fruit over the meaty malt. Refill oak lets the complex Cragganmore character lead, malt and dried fruit beneath. Cragganmore is reckoned among the most complex of all the Speyside malts. It is often called one of the most complex of all the Speyside malts. Its spirit stills are flat topped with a wide neck, an unusual shape that builds a complex, fragrant spirit.
At 40% it is gentle, sweet and fruity. Dried fruit, malt and a savoury, fragrant depth, with plum, red berry and chocolate from the cask. Soft orchard fruit and a savoury malt sit behind the cask. The finish is long, complex and savoury. This is the complex Speyside Classic Malt of Cragganmore.
