Description
An official release of Cragganmore, a 10 year old, from 1993, at 60.1%, 15000 bottles in all. Cragganmore is a Speyside distillery at Ballindalloch, one of the original Classic Malts, known for its complex character. Water comes from the Craggan Burn, off the slopes of Craggan More hill.
The spirit was distilled in flat topped stills with worm tub condensers on Craggan Burn water, to build a complex, savoury, fragrant character. A wine cask finish layered red fruit over the fragrant, savoury malt. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the complex, fragrant spirit growing rounder. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation, the flat topped stills' complexity deepening. The Distillers Edition is finished in Port wood, the house double matured expression. The clean spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit over a savoury malt.
At a hearty 60.1% it carries real weight. A fragrant, savoury sweetness, with a clove and dried fruit spice from the cask. A baked fruit and a warm spice lift it. A long, fragrant finish carries a savoury depth. This is a fragrant, dried fruit rich Speyside single malt.
