Coto de Gomariz makes this Galician orange wine from Treixadura, the native white grape of the Ribeiro hills. Twelve months on its skins in stainless steel give a golden colour, with white peach, orange peel and a savoury, herbal edge over bright Atlantic acidity.

Description
Coto de Gomariz works the granite and slate soils of Galicia in north-west Spain, where the cool, damp Atlantic climate keeps acidity high and ripeness restrained. Treixadura is the region's signature white grape, valued for its aromatic finesse and structure. Paxaradas is made as an orange wine, the white grapes fermented and aged on their skins for twelve months in stainless steel. That extended skin contact pulls phenolics and pigment from the grape skins into the wine, building the golden colour, gentle grip and savoury depth that set orange wine apart from a conventional white, while the inert steel keeps the fruit clean and the acidity intact. The wine is golden in the glass. The nose shows white peach, apricot and orange peel lifted by dried herbs and a touch of honey. The palate is dry and textured, with stone fruit, citrus and a saline, mineral finish that reflects the cool coastal terroir. It is vegan. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees in a white wine glass.
