Description
Còsmic Vinyaters is the project of Salvador Batlle, who farms around nine and a half hectares across two Catalan landscapes, the Alt Empordà in the north and the Baix Penedès to the south, using organic and biodynamic methods with minimal intervention in the cellar. This orange wine blends Xarel·lo, Moscatel de Alejandría and Chardonnay, grown on Mediterranean soils under a warm climate cooled by sea air, with the Empordà fruit exposed to the drying Tramuntana wind that keeps the grapes healthy. The wine is fermented on its skins, which pulls phenolics, light tannin and amber colour from the skins to give texture, while the Moscatel adds aromatic lift. It is raised in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh and the style bright rather than oxidative. Biodynamic, natural and vegan. The colour is a clear amber. The nose is aromatic, with orange peel, apricot and white flowers over a herbal base, and the palate is dry, fresh and lightly grippy with a clean, citrus driven finish. Serve chilled at 10 to 12 degrees. Good with white fish, seafood and lighter salads.
