Corman Collins Navy Full Proof Small Batch 2021 brings together sixteen year old column still molasses rum from Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad in the Navy tradition of pooling Caribbean origins at full strength. The Jamaican component leads the character, with the Guyana and Trinidad rums adding depth behind it.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 53.9%, it shows orange peel, dark fruit, vanilla and coconut with light smoke and firm wood, finishing on cream toffee, banana and a touch of bitterness. The strength is well judged and the blend benefits from time in the glass, where the three origins open and knit together. Enjoyable neat for a fruity, spicy Navy experience, it also makes an excellent base for a richer Cuba Libre.
