A cask strength Jamaican vatted blend leaning Clarendon, with ripe tropical fruit, green banana and caramel over wood spice and licorice, ten years old in ex bourbon and bottled at 50.7%, fruity with a dry, woody grip.
Description
This Jamaica Vatted Rum is a Corman Collins bottling, a ten year blend leaning on Clarendon's distillery character and presented at a robust 50.7% from ex bourbon casks. Vatted from Jamaican stock, it pairs the island's signature funk with a drier, woodier frame that keeps it from veering into full intensity.
The nose is fruity and inviting, pineapple and peaches with young wood and vanilla. The palate brings roasted notes, green banana and tropical fruit with the Clarendon profile clearly recognisable, while the finish turns oaky and roasted with licorice and caramel. There is plenty of ripe Jamaican fruit on the nose, balanced by a dry, barrel heavy grip on the palate. It is a satisfying middle path for drinkers who want classic Jamaican funk with extra wood and structure, without committing to a cask strength monster, best enjoyed neat.
