Arturo Makasare Reserva is a younger Dominican rum from the Belgian bottler Corman Collins, aged eight years in ex-bourbon wood. It is a column-distilled molasses spirit in the soft, approachable Spanish style, made for easy drinking rather than weight, and reduced to a gentle strength.

This is a light, mellow expression. The aroma carries soft wood, dried fruit and roasted notes, the palate stays light and gently sweet with wood and dried fruit, and the finish leans into caramel and vanilla with a touch of sweetness. At 40% it is an amiable Dominican sipper, smooth and unchallenging, the kind of eight-year-old anejo that suits a relaxed evening pour. It offers the house style in a softer, more entry-level form than the older Makasare vintages.
