A 16 year old single cask Worthy Park from The Colours of Rum, dry, woody and punchy with a fruity banana and citrus nose giving way to a bitter, tannic, alcohol forward palate, a niche pick for oak lovers.
Description
Bottled by Poland's The Colours of Rum, a young but top tier purist bottler working at cask strength with no additives, this is a 16 year old single cask Worthy Park distilled in 2006. Worthy Park is a 100 percent pot still, single estate house known for clean, moderate ester spirit, though this particular barrel drinks firmly on the woody side.
Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at 59.3 percent, it opens with a fruity, intense nose of banana and citrus, but the palate leans dry, bitter and tannic with the alcohol noticeable and the fruit receding behind oak and spice. Certified unsweetened, it is a niche Worthy Park that suits drinkers who like their Jamaican rum dry, woody and punchy. Those chasing bright estate fruit will find better balanced options elsewhere in the range.
