A twenty one year Fijian single cask from The Colours of Rum, distilled at South Pacific in 2001 and bottled at 47.3%, showing medicinal, rubbery esters, tropical fruit and floral notes over a dry, lightly spiced finish.
Description
This South Pacific bottling comes from The Colours of Rum, the Polish purist house known for additive free single casks at natural strength, and draws a 2001 vintage aged twenty one years. Fiji's distinctive funk is front and centre here, medicinal and rubbery, with tropical fruit and a floral edge lifting the nose.
Matured in ex bourbon wood and bottled at 47.3% as a single cask, it carries no additives and reads dry. The palate offers floral and tropical fruit alongside the medicinal character, while the finish turns dry with rubber and young wood. The relatively restrained strength makes this long aged Fiji inviting to explore rather than overpowering, though the palate runs leaner and drier than the expressive nose might suggest. It is aimed at drinkers who enjoy funky, medicinal esters but want to discover the island's profile without full overproof power.
