A twenty-two year Foursquare single cask from The Colours of Rum, this 1999 vintage is a cask strength Bajan at 61.9%, coconut and vanilla over caramelised sugar, spice, dark chocolate and dried fruit.
Description
The Colours of Rum is a young Polish bottler with a purist reputation for cask strength single casks with no additives and high transparency, here working with Foursquare distillate distilled in 1999 and held twenty-two years. It is the classic St Philip pot-and-column blend, matured in ex-bourbon oak.
At 61.9% it shows the heavily aged Foursquare profile, coconut, vanilla and caramelised sugar on the nose, then an intense, oily palate of coconut and vanilla with dark chocolate, allspice and a touch of minerality. The long finish brings wood, spice, dried fruit and coffee. The strength runs a little fiery and the alcohol stays noticeable, so a good rest in the glass helps it settle and draw out its fruit and balance. A heavyweight aged Bajan for those who like their Foursquare at full proof and well-matured.
