A single cask 18 Year Old Diamond carrying Port Mourant character, Port-finished and bottled dry at 54.2%, a drier continental-style take with orange peel, dried fruit, marzipan, peanuts and toasted oak.
Description
The Colours of Rum, a young but well-regarded purist bottler from Warsaw, selected this 2003 Diamond as a single cask under the Port Mourant style. Bottled unsweetened at 54.2%, it shows the still's character without heavy funk or sugar, a balanced and drinkable expression rather than a brute.
Matured in Port casks for eighteen years, it leans drier and more continental in feel: orange peel, tropical fruit, caramel and vanilla on the nose, then dried fruit, orange peel, vanilla and oak on the palate, finishing on dried fruit, anise, marzipan and spice. Mostly sipped neat, it offers good balance and clear still character with peanuts and toasted oak rounding it out. This is an approachable way into Port Mourant for drinkers who want the timber and fruit without the weightiest, oiliest end of the profile.
