A 24 Year Old single cask Caroni of rubber, tar and burnt sugar over roasted oak, dark chocolate and a saline iodine edge, this column still 1998 from The Colours of Rum lands powerful but balanced at 62.9%.
Description
The Colours of Rum is a young Polish bottler with a purist, transparent approach, cask strength and no additives, and its flag-coloured Caroni releases tap the most mythologised stock in rum. Caroni closed in 2003, and this single cask draws on the heavy 1998 vintage, a column still spirit tropically aged 24 years before bottling at 62.9%.
Maturation in a single ex-bourbon cask under Caribbean heat concentrates the classic industrial signature into rubber, tar and burnt sugar over roasted wood. The aroma carries that oily workshop character with dark fruit beneath, the palate stays dense with tar, burnt sugar and oak, and the finish turns spicy and dry with dark chocolate and a flash of iodine. Powerful yet notably balanced, it is unsweetened and built for slow sipping, a single-cask reading of dry, full-strength Caroni for drinkers who already know the style.
