Comando G makes this Garnacha in the granite hills of the Sierra de Gredos, in D.O. Cebreros. Light and fragrant, raised in concrete and oak, it shows fresh red berries, floral lift and the stony, peppery minerality of high-altitude granite.

Description
Comando G is the project of Daniel Landi and Fernando García in the Sierra de Gredos, west of Madrid, which has done much to revive old Garnacha plots in D.O. Cebreros. Navatalgordo is a village wine from Garnacha grown on decomposed granite at altitude, sustainably farmed. Granite soils are poor and free-draining, giving low yields and a clear stony signature, while the cool mountain nights and wide day-to-night temperature swing slow ripening and preserve acidity, which is why these wines are light and perfumed rather than heavy despite the warm region. The 2024 is raised for around ten months in concrete and oak; the concrete is neutral and keeps the fruit fresh, while a portion in older oak rounds the texture without adding obvious wood. It is a pale, bright ruby, showing raspberry, redcurrant and cherry, white flowers, a peppery edge and a stony, mineral lift. The palate is light and energetic, with fine tannin, crunchy red fruit and a savoury, mineral finish. Serve cool, at 15 degrees. It suits poultry, game birds and lighter dishes.
