Comandante Fidel

Comandante Fidel is a Spanish bottled ron drawing on Cuban stock, distilled from molasses on a column still and aged just one year in ex-bourbon oak before bottling at 37.5%.

This is about as young as aged ron gets, a light, neutral leaning Cuban spirit in the ron ligero style that depends on mixing rather than sipping. Its character is faint by design, a touch of cane and light vanilla over a thin body. The bottle is a souvenir styled tribute pour, best treated as a mixing rum for cocktails rather than a neat sipper, honest about being a cheerful shelf piece more than a serious dram.
