Description
Codigo 1530 Añejo is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from Varo Destilería in Amatitán, made from fully mature lowland Los Bajos agave with Amatitán water filtered through volcanic soil. The producer states no chemical additives, flavours or sweeteners are used, keeping the focus on agave and cask.
The piñas are cooked by low-pressure autoclave and milled on the brand's own roller mill to take only the first-press juice. This expression then ages eighteen months in French white oak wine casks. The nose unfolds with sweet vanilla, creamy caramel and toasted oak over a touch of dried fruit, while the palate is velvety and soft with baked agave, butterscotch, dark chocolate and a fine spice. Bottled at 38%, an oak-shaped añejo that still keeps the agave in view.
