A 22 year old Clynelish from the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, distilled in 1995, from cask 11233, bottled at 54.2%, one of 602 bottles. Clynelish is a Diageo distillery at Brora, prized by blenders for its oily, waxy malt. Clynelish sits on the North Sea coast at Brora, in the far north east of the Highlands.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in the distillery's tall stills, to build a waxy, coastal, citrussy spirit. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness to the waxy spirit. Through the evaporative decades the oils concentrate, lactones and esters folding into mango, beeswax and a coastal salt. A coastal maturation lends a faint brine to the oily, waxy malt. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the wax. Refill oak lets the famous Clynelish wax lead, lemon and honey beneath. A coastal maturation lends a faint brine to the waxy, oily spirit.

At a natural 54.2% it is full and oily. Waxy honey, lemon and a savoury edge, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A lemon, a brine and a thick wax lift it. A long, oily finish ends on lemon and beeswax. This is the famously waxy Highland malt of Clynelish.
