Clos des Centenaires makes this white in the Pays d’Oc from Garnacha Blanca, Marsanne and Roussanne, the classic Mediterranean trio. Raised in concrete to keep the fruit fresh, it is textured and stone-fruited, with white peach, apricot and a floral, saline lift.

Description
Clos des Centenaires is a Languedoc estate run by Luc Baudet and Bruno François, working vineyards set among oak trees and olive groves in the south of France. This white blends Garnacha Blanca with Marsanne and Roussanne, three grapes long associated with the southern Rhône and Mediterranean coast. The warm, sunny climate and stony soils ripen the fruit fully, giving a wine of 14% alcohol with a broad, textured palate, while the blend contributes complementary layers: body and stone fruit from Grenache Blanc and Marsanne, and floral aromatics and structure from Roussanne. Rather than oak, the wine is raised in concrete, an inert material that lets the wine settle and gain texture while keeping the fruit fresh and the aromatics clear. The estate is farmed organically. The colour is pale gold. The nose leads with white peach, apricot and pear, lifted by white flowers and orange peel, and the palate is rounded and savoury, its ripe fruit carried by a beeswax weight and a saline, almond-tinged finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees in a white glass.

Additional information
Serve with roast chicken or grilled pork, where the wine's body and stone-fruit character hold up well. It also suits richer white fish such as monkfish, and its texture works nicely with roasted root vegetables and squash.
