Clément Vieux 10 ans

Clement Vieux 10 ans is an aged rhum agricole from the Distillerie du Simon at Habitation Clement, an estate with more than three centuries of history in Martinique. Like all Martinique agricole it is made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses and distilled on a creole column at low strength to keep the grassy, vegetal cane character in the spirit. At ten years it sits well beyond the three year floor for a vieux, carrying the only rum AOC in the world as a genuine quality cue.

A decade in ex bourbon oak, accelerated by Martinique's tropical heat, layers honey, vanilla, tobacco and dried fruit over that green, herbaceous backbone, finishing dry and woody with a lift of apricot and gentle smoke. This is the antidote to sweet molasses rum, spice forward and unsweetened, rewarding slow and contemplative sipping. It suits anyone who already likes agricole and wants a touch more age without overpowering heat.
