Clément Cask Finish Collection (Grappa)

Clement is a long-standing Martinique estate, and this entry in its Cask Finish Collection takes an AOC agricole and rests it in grappa casks, an unusual Italian grape-spirit finish that leaves its mark on the aromatics. Bottled at full cask strength, it is undiluted and built to carry that finishing character at high proof.

Distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice and aged in ex-bourbon oak before the grappa cask, it shows about five years of tropical maturation. The nose is fruity and woody with grape notes and a clear sugarcane lift, while the palate keeps that fruity, woody shape with a mineral edge and the cane still present. The finish runs warm and woody with firming tannins and sugarcane trailing off. Powerful at 62.1%, it is a cask-curious agricole for drinkers who enjoy a wine-influenced twist on Martinique's grassy core, ideally with a little water.
