Description
Mezcal Guerrero is a celebration of a lesser known mezcal producing region and the rare wild Papalote agave that thrives there. Made from 100 percent Agave cupreata, locally called Papalote, this expression comes from the humid mountains of the state of Guerrero where the combination of forest and proximity to the sea gives the spirit a unique identity. Its profile reflects both place and raw material, offering a mezcal experience that stands apart from more common Espadín expressions.
The agave used for Mezcal Guerrero grows wild and is harvested at full maturity. It is traditionally cooked in underground ovens, fermented with natural yeasts and distilled to preserve the fresh and earthy character of the plant. The resulting liquid is bottled at 44 percent ABV in an iconic hand painted ceramic decanter that honours the cultural heritage of Guerrero.
On the nose this mezcal opens with grapefruit peel and fresh wood, supported by herbal notes such as rosemary and subtle roasted peanut, with a light hint of citrus brightness. The palate is expressive with fresh wood, lemon juice, pepper and light tobacco, along with mineral and vegetal elements that reflect the wild agave and its environment. The finish is long, balanced and clean, with smoke present but refined rather than dominant.
Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero is about clarity of expression and a sense of place. It feels less heavy or sweet than many aged spirits and more focused on agave character, regional terroir and aromatic complexity. It is a mezcal that rewards slow sipping and thoughtful appreciation, and it also makes a striking gift thanks to its artisan crafted decanter inspired by native symbolism and the landscapes of Guerrero.
