Description
Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero is a joven mezcal made from Cupreata, the agave locally called Papalote, harvested wild in the mountain ranges of Guerrero where both the coastal climate and the green forests shape its profile. Cupreata, found in Guerrero and Michoacan at altitudes of 1,200 to 1,800 metres, can take up to fifteen years to reach maturity and is the signature agave of the region.
Cupreata gives a fruity, savoury and earthy spirit, and that shows here. The nose carries citrus and herbs, green olives, cooked agave and clove with a smoky lift, while the palate turns smoky with peanut, brown sugar, honey, wood, chocolate and ripe fruit. The mezcal is presented in Clase Azul's hand-finished ceramic decanter, a green vessel evoking jade, and bottled at 44%.
