Description
Clase Azul Gold is a Joven tequila from Clase Azul, produced from Blue Weber agave at NOM 1416, Productos Finos de Agave, in Jesús María in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco. Joven sits outside the standard age classes: this is a blend of Clase Azul Plata, a Reposado aged in first use French oak, and an Extra Añejo aged eight years in American whiskey casks and finished in Spanish sherry casks from Jerez. The hand painted ceramic decanter, fused to a black ceramic base and trimmed with a gold dipped emblem, is central to the brand.
The blend gives a soft amber colour and a markedly sweet profile. The nose carries sweet agave, green apple, orange peel, fresh fig, raisin and a light almond and walnut note, while the palate moves to roasted oak, fig, green olive, ginger, cocoa and dark chocolate. Bottled at 40%, it is a sweet, dessert leaning sipping tequila where the bottle and the blend share the billing.
