Description
Clase Azul Día de Muertos Colores 2022 is a 100% Blue Weber añejo produced at Productos Finos de Agave, NOM 1416, in Jesús María in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco. It is the second release in the five bottle Día de Muertos series, a one litre edition limited to 6500 bottles, and like all Clase Azul it is built around an elaborate hand decorated ceramic decanter. Clase Azul does not hold additive-free verification and the profile runs markedly sweet.
The añejo is aged first in ex-bourbon American whiskey casks and then finished in rum casks from Martinique, an unusual double maturation that layers tropical, molasses-tinged sweetness over the highland agave. Brick-oven cooked agave gives a baked, honeyed base, and the wood brings caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, the rum finish adding a softer, sweeter edge. Bottled at 40%.
