Description
This is the Aromas edition, the 2023 release in Clase Azul's annual Día de Muertos series and limited to 3500 numbered decanters. It is a 100% Blue Weber añejo tequila from the brand's Los Altos house at NOM 1416 in Jesús María, where the agave is brick oven cooked. Clase Azul leans toward a soft, sweet, accessibly rounded style, and the hand-painted ceramic bottle is a defining part of the release.
The spirit spends 25 months in bourbon whiskey barrels and is then finished in Armagnac casks from France, a long maturation that pushes the profile well past the one year añejo minimum. Expect cooked agave folded into vanilla, toffee and dark caramel, with cinnamon and clove from the wood and a dried-fruit, brandy-like lift from the Armagnac finish. The oak sits forward, with agave moving to the mid palate, bottled at 40%.
