Description
Part of Decadent Drinks' Rum Sponge collection, this is a fifteen year old single cask Clarendon distilled in 2007. Clarendon is a workhorse Jamaican estate running both pot and column stills, and its pot still marks carry a distinctive farmy, vegetal frame around the tropical fruit, here bottled at a serious 63 percent.
Maturation was in ex-bourbon, and tropical ageing has concentrated the spirit without smothering the fruit. The aromas open on pineapple, green apple and light pastry, while the palate turns drier and more savoury, all barrel, vegetal notes, roasted wood and a cooling menthol streak that runs into the finish. Certified unsweetened, it is a characterful Jamaican that rewards time in the glass and suits drinkers who already enjoy the EMB-style 2007 Clarendons.
