Description
Togouchi Sake Cask Finish is a no age statement blended whisky from Chugoku Jozo in Kure, Hiroshima, and one of the brand's most distinctively Japanese cask expressions. After maturing in Ex-Bourbon casks in the company's decommissioned railway tunnel, the spirit receives a finishing period in sake casks, a wood type native to Japan's rice wine tradition.
The sake cask adds a fresh, clean dimension to the profile: citrus and light fruit are present alongside a greenhouse-like, green-herbal character and a trace of new wood, while vanilla from the bourbon oak continues to underpin the palate. Released for the European market at 40%, this expression draws on both domestic and sourced stock, and the sake finish gives it a gentler, more aromatic quality than the standard Ex-Bourbon Togouchi expressions.
