Description
Togouchi Pure Malt is a no age statement blended malt whisky from Chugoku Jozo, based in Kure, Hiroshima. Released in 2020 for European distribution, it differs from the rest of the Togouchi range by omitting grain whisky entirely, comprising only malt whiskies drawn from domestic and sourced stock.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks inside the producer's former railway tunnel, the blended malt character leans fresh and citric: the tasting profile shows lemon and light orchard fruit alongside a hay-like, grassy note that often appears in malt-forward blends rested in bourbon wood. The railway tunnel's stable, cool environment softens the maturation over time, and at 40% the result is light and clean, sitting apart from the grain-inclusive Togouchi blends in texture and lift.
