Description
Togouchi Beer Cask Finish is a no age statement blended whisky from Chugoku Jozo, the spirits producer in Kure, Hiroshima, famed for storing its whisky in a decommissioned railway tunnel. Released in 2022, this expression adds an additional finishing stage to the typical Togouchi production process.
After an initial period in Ex-Bourbon casks inside the tunnel, the spirit is transferred to beer casks for a final maturation phase. The beer wood contributes a gentle malty grain note and a light cereal sweetness that sits alongside the vanilla and fruit already present from the bourbon oak. The result is approachable and a little playful, drawing on both domestic and sourced stock in the blend, bottled at 40%.
