Description
Togouchi 12 Years Old is a blended whisky from Chugoku Jozo, a spirits producer in Kure, Hiroshima, known for maturing its whiskies in a converted railway tunnel. The stable, cool conditions of the tunnel are central to the brand's identity, offering a long, undisturbed rest far from seasonal temperature swings.
At twelve years, the Ex-Bourbon cask has had ample time to integrate with the spirit, typically yielding vanilla, soft cereal, light caramel and a faint toasted wood note in the house style. The blend draws on both domestic and sourced stock, and the additional three years over the nine-year expression brings a more settled, rounded character, bottled at 40% for the European market.
