Description
Chocolate 4 is the white in the Artevino stable, made by Bodegas Orben from indigenous varieties in Rioja Alavesa, a zone far better known for its Tempranillo reds. The blend brings together Garnacha Blanca, Maturana Blanca, Malvasía and Viura, each adding a different piece: body and stone fruit from Garnacha Blanca, freshness and acidity from Maturana Blanca and Viura, and aromatic lift from Malvasía. The calcareous clay soils and the cooler, higher sites of Rioja Alavesa keep good acidity in the whites, which is why the wine stays fresh despite its creamy texture. It shows a bright, intense yellow with greenish glints. The nose opens on delicate floral notes and ripe stone fruit, apricot and white peach, with pear and a honeyed edge behind. The palate is dry and medium bodied, with a creamy texture and almond on a fresh finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees in a white wine glass.

Additional information
The creamy texture and stone fruit make this a good all rounder for roast chicken and pork. It also carries white fish in a light sauce, and the fresh acidity keeps it working with roasted roots and squash.
