Chichibu The US Edition 2025

Chichibu distillery, Venture Whisky's Saitama-based flagship, has evolved its annual US Edition into an increasingly adventurous series. Founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in Saitama prefecture, the distillery has long experimented with diverse wood types and unorthodox maturation vessels alongside its core programme. The 2025 release is a NAS expression finished across three distinct cask types, combining IPA beer barrels, Stout casks and Ex-Bourbon wood in a maturation programme that reflects the distillery's restless approach to whisky production.

The IPA casks contribute citric brightness and a herbal, hoppy edge; the Stout adds depth and a roasted character; and the Ex-Bourbon underpins with vanilla and coconut. Bottled at cask strength, 52.5%, the result is a layered and energetic Saitama malt that pushes well beyond the standard bourbon-matured template. The beer cask dimension gives this US Edition edition a distinct personality within the series.
