Description
Chichibu distillery, founded in Saitama prefecture in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto of Venture Whisky, has become one of the most sought-after names in Japanese whisky. This release sits within the distillery's The Single Cask line, drawn from a 2015 vintage Ex-Bourbon barrel, bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 59.5% for the Swedish and Norwegian market.
Seven years in an Ex-Bourbon cask builds the expected scaffold of vanilla, sweet oak and honeyed barley, with the noted coal-gas character adding an unusual mineral-smoky undercurrent to an otherwise clean and fruit-forward spirit. The undiluted strength amplifies texture and the distillery's signature orchard brightness, making this a classic Chichibu expression for those who prefer their whisky without dilution.
