Chichibu Single Cask number 7081 is a 2016 vintage release from Venture Whisky's Saitama distillery, drawn from an Ex-Bourbon cask and bottled in 2024 at 63% for the Japanese domestic market. Chichibu was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, and its single cask programme gives collectors and enthusiasts a window into individual barrel development across the distillery's growing back-catalogue of vintages.
Eight years in an Ex-Bourbon cask is a meaningful stretch for Chichibu, whose small warehouse fills and temperate Saitama climate give a steady, even maturation. The cask contributes vanilla, soft caramel and the warm spice typical of American oak, while Chichibu's fruit-forward new make character runs through the spirit as a thread of orchard brightness.
