Description
This single-cask bottling from Chichibu in Saitama was distilled in 2012 and released in 2018 after six years in Ex-Bourbon wood, selected by the distillery for the Swedish market. Chichibu, Venture Whisky's production site founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008, routinely allocates specific casks to import markets as limited single cask releases.
Six years in Ex-Bourbon oak draws out vanilla, toasted grain and fresh stone fruit, building complexity on the distillery's characteristically bright and energetic new make. Bottled from a single cask at a full 62.4%, the spirit is rich in texture with no dilution softening its intensity. This represents a clean expression of the 2012 vintage at the height of Ex-Bourbon's contribution to Chichibu's fruit-forward profile.
