Description
Chichibu Japan Warrior Series Number One 8 Years Old 2009 is a single malt distilled in 2009 at Venture Whisky's Chichibu distillery in Saitama and bottled in 2017 at 61.9% cask strength, drawn from a single cask for the German market. The Japan Warrior Series marks it as a dedicated export range, and the three-cask maturation across Ex-Bourbon, Oloroso sherry and white wine wood makes it one of the more complex maturation profiles in Chichibu's single-cask output.
The Oloroso sherry cask drives the dried fruit, leather and chocolate notes that define this expression, while the Ex-Bourbon component provides a vanilla and caramel backbone and the white wine wood adds a lighter, honeyed lift. Malt extract and yeasty depth round out a profile that leans toward the richer, darker end of Chichibu's character at eight years, the high cask strength ensuring every element arrives with considerable intensity.
