Description
The Intergalactic Series Edition 1 was distilled at Chichibu in Saitama in 2012 and bottled in 2019 after seven years in Ex-Bourbon wood, released for the Dutch market at cask strength. Chichibu, Venture Whisky's distillery founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008, uses the Intergalactic Series to present numbered single-cask selections at whisky events and in specific markets, with Edition 1 serving as the inaugural bottling of the series.
The flavour profile records a cooked mash quality alongside fresh cereal and vanilla, pointing to the grain-forward character that seven-year-old Ex-Bourbon maturation can emphasise in Chichibu's new make. At 63.5% from a single cask the spirit is at full intensity, with the distillery's fruit-forward base emerging behind the cereal and malt notes. The Netherlands allocation connects this first edition to the European specialist market.
